clap is way too loud and undercompressed, sidechaining is random, chord progression is awkward, hi-hat sounds generic, clipping, bass is too midi sounding.

you obviously know what you're doing with the clap. well placed! most people mess that up badly. hi-hat needs EQing. put a lowpass and a highpass on it, then compress. synths sound kind of depressed. turn up the resonance on the leads. kick sounds decent, but a kick like that should be used in a faster song. impact FX are good. if you're going to have a weak-ish bassline, you really need to go heavy on the pads. there's a gap in your song where a strong orchestra pad should be.

bit around 4:22 was artistic, but didn't fit. percussion sounds overcompressed there.

4 notes at a time for offbeat bass. otherwise, try 4 notes, 2, 4, then 4 again.

now this isn't really my kind of music, and honestly i think you could have benefited from some bassy FX. some distorted square bass would have sounded nice under there, also. I think that main chime-ish dreamy bassy synth thing that you used was just a little bit thin. maybe double it up with a 5th note enhancer or something.....

how enjoyable do you find this yourself, on a scale of 1-10?

On a scale of 1-10 of my satisfaction of this tracks is equal to the score you gave me on this one, which is about an 8/10. I'm never completely satisfied with some of my work because there is always something I find out later that should have been done before to improve it.

About the distorted square bass, it isn't a bad idea, but it would contradict my lead and throw off the frequencies so I filtered the bass to be a little more subtle while still having a presence in the mix. Plus distortion is something I save for my Electro House work.

I agree with what you mentioned on the chime being a little thin. I was trying to go for something not completely up-front to maintain the atmosphere, but I regret not adding a 4th or a 7th note to it.

trust me, i'm a harshass critic. even though you didn't use many different leads, you still got the 'personality' of the song across. the name helps too...gives you something to visualize. the synth at 1:51 is well-made, if it's not a preset.

also, nice hi-hat! most people screw those up

Nice to see some input. :) The synth there is just a 3xosc sine with some portamento. And man. I spent so much time on those hihats. It's a headache to get a good percussion flow when you use 4-4 beat unless you want to settle for the house cliche.
